New Thoughts on New Beliefs

It’s funny how you can think you know something but after reading or hearing something presented in a slightly different way, it can suddenly make more sense and become clearer.

I am currently reading a book called “The Greatest Marketer In The World” and I came across a chapter that explains something called “The Habits Of Disbelief”.

Basically it says this:

In order to reprogram my mind from negative thinking to positive thinking, I must first change my “Habits of Disbelief”or, if you prefer “Habits of Negative Thinking”.

Habits are simply actions that we’ve have done over and over again until we are actually doing them consistently without conscious thought. Habitual thinking is the same way.

Over the course of our lives we have chosen to think certain thoughts over and over again until they become habits. These habitual thoughts will surface as we react to certain events in our daily lives. Some of these habitual thoughts can be very damaging to our self esteem and hinder what ever progress or change we are trying to create in our lives.

For example; if someone you know has suddenly experienced some recent success or good fortune do you react by feeling jealous or do you react by celebrating their success? Your truth here is the first thought that comes to your mind or the immediate feeling you get in your gut. That’s your “Habit”. If your initial reaction or habitual thought was jealousy, you may want to consider changing this habit.

You may be asking now “How can I change this habit?” The answer is simple, “The same way you created it!”

The good news is it doesn’t take nearly as long to change as it did to create it. You simply have to change your habit.

Here’s some more shocking news: The moment you become aware of this habit it is not longer a habit. It is now a choice!

If you choose not to change the habit then you choose to accept it.

At this point you might be tempted to convince yourself that it’s still a habit and some habits are difficult to change. I encourage you to change that habit. Yes, some habits are more difficult to change than others, but why waste time focusing on that? The fact is that you created the habit. You chose to think those thoughts over and over again. That’s how powerful you are! You were powerful enough to create these habits so you must be powerful enough to create new, more powerful, positive and successful habits.

Once these habits are recognized we can begin the process (or habit) of changing them. As these habitual negative thoughts come up, recognize when they occur and what caused them and replace them with a positive thought. Do this over and over until it becomes a new habit.

I must stress to you the importance of being patient and kind to yourself throughout this process. Most importantly you must forgive yourself. You simply cannot move forward into your greatness by clinging to the past. By forgiving yourself you create the space for new growth and unlimited potential and self development.

Remember, some of these habits took a long time to create and will not be gone overnight. But with time and daily commitment you can change any bad habit into a good habit.

Inclosing I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes:

“The significant problems we face cannot be solved at same level of thinking we were at when we created them”

- Albert Einstein

To Your Success.
